Renowned storyteller, Susan Klein, and documentary photographer, Alan Brigish, explore communities, traditions, and transformations of the Island of Martha’s Vineyard. Klein, who grew up on the island, tells of the way it was. Brigish shows it the way it is.
Photographer Alan Brigish has been documenting Martha’s Vineyard for 30 years. He has traveled extensively across the globe since 1997 to Australia, Bhutan, Botswana, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Cuba, England, Ethiopia, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Laos, Lithuania, Myanmar, Namibia, Netherlands, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Tibet, Ukraine, USA and Uzbekistan. His previous book, Breathing in the Buddha received an Honorable Mention in the 2010 San Francisco Book Festival. His work can be seen at www.brigish.com. Susan Klein is the author of Through a Ruby Window – a Martha’s Vineyard Childhood and is the award-winning author of numerous spoken-word presentations involving Story. Susan tours her one-woman shows internationally in theaters, and at conferences and special events. Her highly acclaimed storytelling concerts and memoir writing workshops are held annually on Martha’s Vineyard, around the nation, and in Europe.
